Last night was rough. Alex entered the 3 month sleep regression. He’s been waking up anywhere from once to 6 times a night. Last night he woke up 7 times. I am tired to say the least. However, this morning Alex and James were in a great mood so I decided to clean the kitchen. A little bit after I was done, James decided he wanted to play trains – no big deal. Well, he picked up a piece of train track, looked at it, then proceeded to hit himself in the head with it. Toddler logic.

“There was much whining, a lot of crying (from both kids and dog), and some tantrums. “

Obviously that upset him. This incident spiraled us into experiencing a horrible morning. There was much whining, a lot of crying (from both kids and dog), and some tantrums. It got to the point that I had to get out of the house. We ended up taking a walk. James was very happy with this decision – Alex not so much. Alex was clearly tired and didn’t want to sleep. The walk put him to sleep. He slept for an additional 5 minutes when we got home – totaling a whooping 10 minutes of morning nap.

“Hopefully things turn around after nap. If not, there is always tomorrow.”

I spent the rest of the morning trying to put Alex down while simultaneously trying to keep James happy. It did not work. I ended up putting James down for an early nap. Finally Alex gave into sleep. I am unsure how long the peace and quiet will last in this house but I am going to pop some tylenol and veg out for a bit. Hopefully things turn around after nap. If not, there is always tomorrow.
