Last week we had James’ post surgery hearing test. I am so excited to say that he has perfect hearing! WHOOP! WHOOP! I know we have a long road ahead of us still, but I know that we conquered a huge mountain.

We looked into many different ways to avoid having tubes put in his ears. Not necessarily because we didn’t think tubes would be worth it, but because we wanted to make sure we considered every available.

I am happy that we went with tubes as our next step. It is clear that James hears better than before. He responds to our commands, he is talking up a storm, and he is even putting some words together to form sentences (“me please” is a favorite). His private speech therapist and ECFE speech therapist both noticed a significant improvement in his expressive language – such a relief!

We will continue to work with both private speech and through the school district. We have a lot of catching up to do but we are finally on the right track. The bonus part of all of this is that Alex is talking up a storm too. He gets to participate in the meetings with the school district – which he loves!
